Weapons & Equip - Early game mage/summon items (2024)

I think there should be a weak wand that you can craft out of just wood and a super weak summon that you can craft from some kind of super early game material like wood and dirt and the summon can be a dirt golem or something. Out of the 4 main classes you can easily get ranger at the start of the game by chopping a tree down and crafting a bow and you already start with a melee weapon, for those who want to stick solely to one class it would be nice to get weapons crafted from materials you can get as soon as you spawn in while of course making the weapons very weak. Also I think there should be iron/gold wands that come before the gem staffs and maybe another pre-bosses whip that is very weak but easy to get with no rng, maybe made out of iron chains.

I think the weak weapons you want are wand of sparking and finch staff but they can't be made. I also want to add recipe to them.

I figured they wouldn't add recipes to those so I just suggested new weapons that are a little weaker but have the option to be crafted at the start of the game (like the bow and wooden sword) .

I like the idea of a Wooden Wand, and I think its stats could simply be the same as pre-1.4 Wand of Sparking. That'd make it comparable to the Wooden Sword and Wooden Bow.

Yes, exactly like that and if they made a summon/whip of a similar tier you would be able to choose your class right at the start of the game and it would make single class playthroughs more fun imo Weapons & Equip - Early game mage/summon items (7)

True but I'm talking starting gear similar to the wood sword or bow, like a weapon you can easily get before you kill a single mob. I think it would make single class playthroughs more fun and feasible.

starter weapons similar to wooden sword/bow but for mage and summoner
-wood and dirt for a dirt golem summon and iron chains for a whip
-wooden wand for a super weak mage weapon and an iron, gold or platinum wand to have 1 more mage weapon before you get the gem staff's (similar to the early game sword and bow tiers)

fires out a dual Whip that pierces up to two foes at once
Crafted With 10 Iron Bars + 20 Chains at a Anvil
early game whip obtainable easier than leather whip
combining leather whip and the chain whip

Barbed Whip
"Sharp And Deadly"
Fires out a Leather whip that has dual chain whips wrapped around it when hitting a enemy the chain whips unwrap and hit two other enemies
Crafted With Reinforced Chains + Leather Whip

Geolithic Orb
Summons a Small Golem to fight for you they will roll into enemies similar to the flinx staff but also they have a ranged attack similar to the base enemy throws damaging rocks
Crafted With Rock Golem Head + 10 Fallen Stars + 50 Glass at a Anvil
early Game summon that uses rock golems cause it would be adorable to have small rocks bullying your foes

Staff Of Sparking
Fires a Stream Of Low Damaging Sparks that set enemies ablaze
Crafted with Wand Of Sparking + 5 Iron Bars at a Anvil
wand of sparking upgrade

Reinforced Amethyst Staff
Fires a Exploding Orb Of Purple energy shoots three purple bolts outward on impact
Crafted With Amethyst Staff + 10 Iron Bars

Reinforced Topaz Staff
fires a Bouncing Orb Of Yellow energy Ricochets Of enemies damaging them and dissapears after a few seconds
Crafted with Topaz Staff + 10 Iron Bars
given these two are avaible before iron or gold why not upgrade them with iron

Those all sound cool and very well thought out! For the summon and early game staff I was talking about just more starter weapons that can be crafted from just wood, stone or dirt so people can pick their class and stick with it right at the start of the game without having to use any other classes .The things you suggested sound like good early game weapons too, for the "staff of sparking" I think it would work well if the wand of sparking was craftable and could be upgraded, it would be good for early game mage playthroughs! and the "Geolithic Orb" could be an upgrade to the starter summon I was talking about and would make for a good early game alternative to the flinx staff!

agreed also yea i was just giving the rock golem wand of sparking and leather whip more usage due to upgrades allowing them to be used against the evil bosses

I also like the idea of upgrading the staffs but I think it should cost demonite or crimtane, it would fit perfectly and be a good weapon for post eye of Cthulhu

true something like the ruby emerald and sapphire being upgradable with post evil boss materials and then diamond and amber with hellstone

Yes! that would make the staff's way better, as of right now they are cool but pretty useless imo, as soon as you get the vile thorn I see no point in using them sadly. if they could be upgraded with demonite, meteorite and hellstone they would fit progression perfectly and be great pre-hardmode weapons!

exactly and you could even make combined gem staves in mid hardmode with mech souls and then combine these dual staves into one powerful gem rainbow weapon
